  • How long should we allow for an experience?

    Depending on the age group and which experience you have chosen, you should allow between 2 - 4 hours.

  • What happens if the weather takes a turn on our booked day?

    If there is light rain we are able to continue with your booking, accommodating your group in our sheltered space and still share puuraakau and engaging activities and workshops. Upon confirmation of your booking you will receive more detailed information regarding weather events and alternative options.

  • Can we book a marae stay with Te Ihu o Mataoho?

  • How many people can you take per tour group?

    We can take up to 50 people at a time per hiikoi and up to 25 people in each workshop, with up to 2 workshops running at a time.

  • What are the ratios required for school groups?

    Children under 5 = one adult to two children (1:2)

    Children aged 5-7 = one adult to four children (1:4)

    Children aged 8-14 = one adult to eight children (1:8)

  • What happens if we need to cancel?

    All cancellations must be made in writing to the Te Ihu o Mataoho Tours email address. Less than 24 hours notice will incur a fee. Rescheduling is at the discretion of Te Ihu o Mataoho tours. Please contact us as soon as you are aware of any issues regarding your booked date.

  • Where do we park?

    Near the intersection of Oruarangi and Ihumatao Quarry Roads are traffic slowing and control points. Outside of these points are areas to park or drop off on either side of the road. You will be give more detailed information upon confirmation of your booking.

  • Where do we meet for the tours?

    The meeting point for all tours is at the Ahi (the fire) situated at the intersection of Oruarangi and Ihumatao Quarry Roads.
