Booking Terms
We're looking forward to welcoming you to Te Ihu o Mataoho. These booking terms help ensure every visit is safe, enjoyable and meaningful for all guests.

All experiences are by prior booking only.
Bookings are confirmed once your enquiry has been accepted, your deposit has been paid, and you have received a confirmation email and calendar booking from Te Ihu o Mataoho.

A deposit is required to secure your booking date.
The remaining balance is due within 7 days after the scheduled experience date.
Invoices will be issued to the nominated billing contact.

If you need to cancel or change your booking, please contact us as soon as possible.
Cancellations must be made in writing.
Cancellations made more than 10 days before the event: full refund of deposit (less any non-recoverable costs).Cancellations within 10 days: deposit is non-refundable.
Cancellations within 5 days: 100% of total booking fee is payable.
Date changes are subject to availability and may incur administrative costs.

Schools and early learning services are responsible for the supervision and behaviour of students throughout their visit.
Minimum adult-to-child ratios are required:
Children under 5 = one adult to two children (1:2)
Children aged 5-7 = one adult to four children (1:4)
Children aged 8-14 = one adult to eight children (1:8)
We encourage schools to bring additional adults where practical to help ensure every child enjoys a safe and engaging experience.

Our experiences take place outdoors on the whenua and operate in most weather conditions.
Please dress appropriately for the forecast, including sturdy walking shoes, sun protection, warm layers or rain jackets where required.
If severe weather makes it unsafe to proceed, we will work with you to reschedule your booking or discuss alternative arrangements.

Our experiences involve walking over uneven natural terrain, including paddocks, grass and gravel paths.
Our building we gather for mihi whakatau and workshops has a ramp. However, unfortunately, the full experience is not wheelchair accessible.
If anyone in your group has accessibility requirements, please let us know before booking so we can discuss suitable options.

We recommend bringing:
Comfortable walking shoes
Weather-appropriate clothing
A reusable water bottle
Sun protection
Personal medication if required (especially asthma medication and/or epi pens for allergies)

All participants must follow health and safety instructions provided by hosts and kaitiaki.
Groups may be held liable for damage caused by participants.

Photography for personal and educational purposes is welcome during most experiences.
Your guide will advise if there are areas or moments where photography is not appropriate. We ask all visitors to respect the tikanga of the site and the people sharing its stories.
You are note permitted to film or capture audio of the guide koorero.Commercial photography or filming must be arranged with us before your visit.

Te Ihu o Mataoho is a living papakaainga and a place of deep cultural and ancestral significance.
We ask all visitors to:
Follow the guidance of your hosts.
Stay with your group throughout the experience.
Respect the whenua, waterways and living food forest.
Leave no rubbish behind.
Smoking and vaping is only permitted in the designated area across from Toituu te Whenua building. There is no smoking or vaping on our site and/or within Ootuataua Stonefields Historic Reserve
